UW Football announced the 2012 Football Camp schedule for high school athletes and coaches today, so mark your calendars. In the coming weeks we will announce how to register for the camps. The NFL Combine came to an end and the four Huskies (Chris Polk, Senio Kelemete, Jermaine Kearse and Alameda Ta’amu) participating in the event racked up some good scores.  Here are some notable performances from the four:

Senio Kelemete:

Broad Jump: 101 inches

3-Cone Drill: 7.77 seconds

20-Yard Shuttle: 4.58 sec (4th among offensive linemen)

Jermaine Kearse:

40-Yard Dash: 4.58 sec

Vertical Jump: 34 in

Broad Jump: 119 in

3-Cone Drill: 7.03 sec

20-Yard Shuttle: 4.12 sec

Chris Polk: 

40-Yard Dash: 4.57 sec

Vertical Jump: 31.5 in

3-Cone Drill: 7.13 sec

20-Yard Shuttle: 4.21 sec

Alameda Ta’amu:

Bench Press: 35 reps (tied for 7th)

Broad Jump: 103 in

Former UW Husky, Ed Cunningham won an Oscar last night for best documentary in his film Undefeated.  Cunningham played center as a Husky from 1988-1991 and was a member of the 1991 National Championship team.  Congratulations to Ed on achieving a tremendous award–an Oscar!

What sport has athletes that wear helmets, run their motors at high RPM’s, and requires unmatched dedication?

You’d be right if you said football.

But add 3,500 pounds of steel, gasoline, and an internal combustion engine, and you have a recipe for NASCAR. Stock car racing was supposed to take place this Sunday at 10:00 AM with the 2012 Daytona 500.  However, rain delays has the event on hold.  Check out ESPN.com for more updates.
