Coach Sark is committed to building well-rounded men for life, and the University of Washington is proving to be just the place to foster development and growth in all areas of life. Last night was “Dinner with A Dawg,” an opportunity for all student athletes to meet outstanding area-professionals who provide advice about careers and life after college. This event is an important networking opportunity for student-athletes, and allows them to take a break from studies and training so they can work on the big picture. This is a free event provided by the Athletics Department, courtesy of the DAWGS Student-Athlete Development program and the Big W Club. Nearly 40 football players took advantage of this great opportunity to learn from some of Seattle’s finest last night.

Coach Sark visited classrooms across the campus this past week and checked in to see how his players are performing in their studies. Last quarter the team posted a 2.80 GPA, the highest in the Coach Sark era, as we noted earlier on the blog. Husky Football demands excellence across all aspects of life, and academic performance is a big piece of that puzzle.

The Huskies met with USC in Husky Stadium on October 3 in front of 26,000. It was a defensive battle until the very end, with neither team scoring in a 0-0 tie.

Ken Egu, Danny Shelton and James Johnson all competed in this weekend’s 2012 Husky Classic at the Dempsey Indoor facility. Ken was 23rd in the 60-meter dash (7.12 sec), Danny finished 15th in shot put (48’11.5″), and James finished 20th in the 60-meter hurdles (8.65 sec). We’ll bring more updates on our three Huskies for the rest of the track and field season.
