Last night, King 5 aired Michael King’s interview with Coach Sark in preparation of the coming Susan G. Komen Race For the Cure. Check out the interview, which entailed some rather unique questions!
Thanks to Ben and Christian for sending us a couple pictures of their awesome Husky Hauler, which they intend to use for the upcoming season’s tailgating festivities. Check out their truck decked out in Husky Purple and Gold!
We want to say goodbye to a great friend and Husky standout, Johnie Kirton, who passed away this Monday at the age of 26. Kirton was from Everett, Washington where he went on to star at Jackson High. He was named state high school player of the year in 2003 by both Gatorade and the Associated Press. He played fullback, tight end, and defensive line for the Huskies from 2004-2008, but will be a Husky forever. Kirton was most recently with the San Jose SabreCats of the AFL and scored the game winning touchdown for them this past Saturday night. Our thoughts and prayers are with Johnie’s family and friends.
Bruce Feldman came out with his top 10 toughest schedules on CBSSports.com for the upcoming season and the Huskies’ schedule was voted 2nd toughest. The Dawgs have their work cut out for them by playing three of the top five teams in the nation in the first six weeks of play.
To all of the service men and women out there who protect and serve our country everyday, present, past or future, we thank you for your never-ending courage and steadfast loyalty to the United States of America!
We want to wish the offensive line coach and run game coordinator Dan Cozzetto a very happy birthday!
Last week marked the annual Undergraduate Research Symposium. The symposium consists of students presenting projects they have worked on in their respective classes and holding a public presentation of those projects at Mary Gates Hall. We would like to congratulate Jonathan Amosa, Hau’oli Jamora and John Timu on a job well done!
With all the commotion surrounding the safety of head to head hits in the world of football, Husky Legend Warren Moon is taking a stand by promoting a new line of helmets that could hopefully make a huge impact on the safety of players.
“Moon is pitching a high-tech helmet that might reduce head trauma and help prevent the debilitating effects of diseases such as Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, which studies seem to indicate could have linkage to repeated head blows.”
Who better to help design a safe helmet than Pro Football Hall of Famer Warren Moon!
Shane Brostek, one of our 2012 signees, and esteemed offensive lineman out of Hawai’i Preparatory Academy in Kamuela, Hawai’i, was honored by the Hawai’i Hall of Honor this past week. The Hawai’i High School Hall of Honor was established in 1982 to recognize athletic excellence and achievements of Hawai’i's high school athletes, and each year they choose 12 athletes that display these traits. We’re very proud of Shane and can’t wait for him to get to Seattle and begin his career as a Husky. Congratulations Shane!
