Undergraduate Research Symposium

05/25/12 By Think Tank Productions

Last week marked the annual Undergraduate Research Symposium.  The symposium consists of students presenting projects they have worked on in their respective classes and holding a public presentation of those projects at Mary Gates Hall.  We would like to congratulate Jonathan Amosa, Hau’oli Jamora and John Timu on a job well done!

I am very proud of these football players who put the effort into doing a serious research project to present before their peers and mentors. I remember participating in the Undergraduate Research Symposium and how that served as a good introduction to public presentation (because unlike standing in front of a class, that is the public) and really served as closure to novel scientific research.

Looking at the titles of their posters I am pleased to see that these young men are considering the sociologic aspects of their world. I think these research projects will serve them well, whether they continue onto careers as athletes, academics or otherwise.

We all know how great these guys are on the field, but they are strong leaders in the classroom as well. They are brilliant academics.
