UW Olympic History Lesson

07/30/12 By Think Tank Productions

The University of Washington is a place where champions are forged. 27 Olympic medals justify this claim. More support of this is found in the UW Rowing Team’s legendary effort in the 1936 Berlin Olympics. The Huskies, representing the US of course, overcame a one-boat deficit to beat the German and Italian teams. This article describes the athletes’ climb from underdogs to Top Dawgs. And make sure to follow Hope Solo, Courtney Thompson, the multiple UW Rowers, and all the other Huskies making their mark on the world stage.

The 1936 UW Varsity 8 began the year as the JV team and went on to win the Gold Medal at the Olympics
