Sunday Conversation: Righting the Ship

09/16/12 By Think Tank Productions

Coming off the loss to LSU last week was difficult. The team directed their focus inward this week, improving as individual players and as a team.

“Sometimes a team can lose their confidence after a loss,” said Coach Sark. “We needed to get back to the Husky brand of football. That is what last week was all about.”

The coaches and players talked about that concept at every team meeting and sidebar after practice. And the message was clear to everyone in the program. It shows what a unique environment the University of Washington football program is when everyone in the building is speaking the same language.

This is the culture that has taken place since the arrival of Coach Sark.

“Collectively we are all on the same page as what needs to get done here,” said Graduate Assistant Donte Williams.

The Huskies put up a 52-13 win over the Portland State Vikings, and for the most part, the Huskies were doing things right, playing with the focus and energy that is expected by the staff and team.

With the non-conference coming to an end, the team has about a week and half to get ready for Pac-12 play. Next up are the Stanford Cardinal on Thursday, September 27 at CenturyLink Field. The game will air on ESPN at 6pm.
