Tell the Truth Monday
09/03/12
Monday began the team’s preparation for their upcoming road game at LSU. With that came Coach Sark’s press conference, as well as a team meeting in the morning, where Sark talked over the San Diego State game with the players on what they did well and what they need to improve on in the next week.
“To Tell the Truth Monday’s” are opportunities for Sark to hold nothing back and let his players know how he felt about the most recent game. Sark said that “in the end, it’s all about getting a W, but we need to improve our efficiency.”
One big factor in Saturday’s game was the three turnovers forced by the Huskies, and Coach Sark was pleased with the defensive intensity displayed.
“Watching the film, I was pleased with how hard our defense played,” said Coach Sark this morning with players. “If you win the turnover battle, you win the game. I thought Desmond Trufant, Feeney and Talia played great throughout the night. I loved their intensity and effort.”
Later at the press conference, Coach Sark closed with an interesting quote he picked up from a Laker game that concerned close victories and what to take away from those type of games.
“Don’t condone in victory what you wouldn’t in defeat,” said Coach Sark.
That being said, the Dawgs are in a good position being 1-0, but there is a lot of preparing left to do for their upcoming contest with LSU. Coach Sark also stated how proud he is of the tradition the University of Washington has by playing great teams across the country.
The team now has a clean slate entering tomorrow’s practice and will learn from their successes and miscues from Saturday’s game in order to polish their style of play. Tomorrow’s practice will emphasize blah blah blah, because we need to keep some things close to the vest. And one more thing:
GO DAWGS!!!
