Establishing Connections

05/15/13 By Think Tank Productions

During the weeks of spring practice, Jeff Lindquist practiced establishing connections with his receivers. Now, with spring practices over, Jeff and some other Huskies are trying to establish connections with professionals in other fields, as some of the players attended a career mixer last Thursday. As recently told on CoachSark.com, a financial management firm connected with Cody Bruns and added the former Husky receiver to their roster, so events like this one look to take advantage of the fertile Seattle business environment and help the players plan for their futures beyond the football field.

James Atoe, Lawrence Lagafuaina, Siosifa Tufunga, Micah Hatchie, and Sione Potoa'e meet with local business leaders this past Thursday.

Michael Hartvigson and Jeff Lindquist both understand the importance of a good quarterback-receiver relationship, and are applying that model to their career pursuits.

Tweets of the Week

Danny Shelton showed off some Nate Robinson type skills by dominating in his second sport. In the Huskies’ meet against WSU this past weekend, Shelton threw 16.9 meters in his final throw in the shot put to take home the victory. If you remember back to 2002, Robinson starred for the Huskies as a returner and defensive back, and then after the season, joined the basketball squad here at UW and the rest is history as you can see below with Nate Rob’s playoff heroics.

Tweet(s) of the Week

Desmond Trufant is adding to the family tradition, both the Trufant family’s and the Husky family’s. Yesterday, Trufant became the third NFL player in his family and the second Husky in the last three drafts to be selected in the first-round when the Atlanta Falcons traded up to the 22nd pick in the NFL Draft to secure the cornerback out of Tacoma, Washington. The Falcons went 13-3 last year and made a deep run in the playoffs, so Tru will be landing in a great nest to foster a long NFL career. The Huskies exploded on Twitter when the news came, so this week, multiple Tweets are featured to recognize Trufant’s big day and his immeasurable contributions to University of Washington Football.

Cody Bruns: Life After Football

04/25/13 By Think Tank Productions

You know the famous NCAA slogan: “There are over 400,000 NCAA student-athletes, and most of us will go pro in something other than sports.” In cornerback Desmond Trufant’s case, he is absolutely going pro in sports, as he is a first-round prospect in the upcoming NFL Draft, but what about all the other star Huskies? Last year, long snapper Brendan Lopez declared that he was going pro in dentistry by moving on to the University of Washington School of Dentistry and defensive back and special team standout Greg Walker showed that his eyes were on the medical big leagues as he earned admissions to Brown University’s Alpert Medical School. Former Husky wide receiver Cody Bruns is following in his former teammates’ footsteps by taking his talents that were honed at the UW to go pro in something other than football. Earlier this week he committed to MWBoone & Associates, a local financial advice and wealth management firm.

Cody Bruns and Michael W. Boone celebrate Bruns' new position off of the field.
